At Kelburn Castle, Glasgow.
L.C. showed us what happens when the old meets the new. Specifically, when a centuries old Scottish castle needs renovations and the owner decides to give it a last fling.
She read about it in "Scottish Life" magazine, an article about the tenth Earl of Glasgow needing to do repairs on the tower where you lock up the insane relatives. His kids suggested doing something fun to the house before starting the two year restoration. So they invited four Brazilian graffiti artists to give it a makeover.
Kelburn is thought to be the oldest castle in Scotland to be inhabited continuously by the same family. The DeBoyvilles (now Boyles) came to Britain from Normandy with William the Conqueror (1066) and moved to Kelburn in 1140.
The website includes a history of the project, and a YouTube time-lapse video of the project. It's pretty cool.
If you happen to be visiting Glasgow, you can tour this remarkable estate.
I wonder if I could do something like that with my house.
