I think this list of the 100 most commonly mispronounced words and phrases in English is very interesting.
While some of the examples may seem a bit out there, and some seem petty, there is a lot of good stuff here. The favorite presidential misprounoucement, "nucular" certainly made the list.
Does anyone really think it's "old timer's disease", "carpool tunnel syndrome" or "doggy-dog world"? Actually, my ex-brother-in-law said "doggy-dog world", as well as "the windshield factor."
Words I do run into all the time include: "aks," "athelete," "calvary," "expresso" and "excetera," "flounder," "irregardless," "larnyx," "nuptual," "orientate," "prostrate," "realator," and"supposably."
I hear a lot of the others as well, but those are the ones that strike me the most. One regional mispronunciation I hear a lot since I live in north Florida relates to the Jacksonville football team, the Jaguars (or the "jag-yew-ars, or the jagwires" as they are like as not to be called).
