A couple of days ago, I watched Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. I had gotten it on DVD from Netflix, and when it came, the sleeve said it was 4 1/2 hours long. It sat around the house for a long time before I thought I could face a movie that long.
But finally, I decided to watch it...maybe half of it one day and the rest the next. As it turned out, it was about 2 1/2 hours; the time on the sleeve was wrong.
I'd read the book, and in fact read all the Harry Potter books except the last one, which I'll read one of these days when I put down the Sudoku puzzles, and maybe the blog, and become a serious reader once again. Maybe if I win the lottery and retire.
I had forgotten how good these stories are. Like the books, once I start them, I'm hooked. The movie plot was true to the book, and the cinematography was masterful. I never got used to the idea of the Malfoys being blond, but I guess that's a failure of my own imagination.
In this, book four, Harry, Ron and Hermione are a little older (fourteen), taller, and beset by a bit of acne. Conveniently, the actors and characters mature in synch. In addition to fighting evil and learning magic, they learn to dance and have to find dates to a ball. Meanwhile, star pupils from three schools compete in the Triwizard tournament, but when the goblet of fire spews out three names, a fourth is also egested: that of Harry Potter.
So Harry competes in three very dangerous magical competitions, distracted from winning by friends in peril, until the reason his name was in put in the goblet becomes evident.
His progress is followed by his friends, as well as Professor Snape, and the new Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher, Mad-eye Moody. Are they there to help him, or to deliver him into the arms (sort of) of Lord Voldemort.
Only one way to find out.
Throughout, the themes of friendship, loyalty and doing the right thing are repeated. Meanwhile, the plot, quiddich competitions and the antics of the Deatheaters will keep you riveted.
I love the Harry Potter books. I have read every one of them, and watched the DVDS

The movie was not as loyal to the book as I and other fans would have liked. And btw, it has mentioned in the books that the Malfoys are indeed blonde.

If you want to try out something new in sudoku, try shendoku, using the sudoku rules but playing two people, one against the other, like battleshipps. They have a free version to download at http://www.shendoku.com/sample.pdf . Anything else they are bringing out or they are working on you can find at www.shendoku.com or at they´r blog www.shendoku.blogspot.com . Have fun, I am. I specially like one slogan I heard about Shendoku: SUDOKU is like masturbation (on your own)…. SHENDOKU is like sex (it takes two).
