If you've walked along the Royal Mile in Edinburgh any weekend in the last nine or so years, you may have spotted William Wallace chopping off heads. In truth, he is hard to miss.
Wait a minute...William Wallace? Isn't he a bit old? Didn't he live in the 1200's?
Adam Watters is a history buff. Particularly, the history of the Jacobites and the Battle of Prestopans. During the week, he works as a machine operator in a Scots factory, but on weekends, he dons a costume he has fashioned, paints his face and comes to the Royal Mile as William Wallace. He looks great, scary and menacing, and somehow so hot in that skirt, you wish he'd kidnap you.
He asks for donations to have your picture taken with him, brandishing axe or sword.
He'd be a rich man if he kept the money. Instead, he gives it leukemia charities. Over the years he has given tens of thousands of pounds.
Recently, he has gotten some bit parts in movies, and had a role in "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest." His factory days may be about over, but hopefully he'll remain a fixture on the Royal Mile, seen and remembered by thousands of people a day.

Leukemia is a bad actor, and I was saddened, as were many of us (and surprised too) at the passing of Ed Bradley to this scourge.
Adam Watters is a hero for helping fight leukemia.
thank you for your kind words adam

Hi Adam,
I came over to visit Scotland with my grandson during the week of the Tattoo and saw you on the Royal Mile. My grandson is a William Wallace fan so I told him to go up to you and have a picture taken. For some reason, he was bashful (at 14?) so I came up instead. Cody took several pictures. We went to eat and on the way back up to the castle I stopped and gave you a kiss. My grandson posted it on Facebook and I have received several comments about chasing men in kilts!!!! My 5 year old granddaughter ask me "why did you kiss a blue man?" Hard to explain to a 5 year old!! Thank you for the autographed picture and it was very nice meeting you. Maybe our paths will cross again. Bonnie
