  This site, Wacky Uses, is full of fascinating information. 

The home page features a picture (is it Joey Green? Yes.) of a man shaving, his face covered with Jif peanut butter.  I hope it's the smooth kind. 

The  Wacky Uses section has hundreds of unorthodox uses for common household products.  For example, you can remove makeup or soothe poison ivy, insect bites or poison ivy with Carnation Nonfat Dry Milk.  You can use Chapstick to lubricate a zipper or remove a finger that's stuck on a finger.  It's sort of like Hints from Heloise, only more fun.

You can use Jell-O to style your hair (the sugar-free kind, I hope), or to sprout seeds.

You can clean your toilet with Alka-Seltzer or Tang, and the rest of your bathroom with baking soda. Or remove tarnish from pots and pans with Worcestershire sauce. Vaseline to lure trout, or peanut butter for axle grease.

Mad Scientist is the section your child would enjoy.  Fun experiments, like how to make invisible ink, or to get a hard-boiled egg into a bottle are explained in detail.  Learn how to make your own Play Dough, or a camera out of a Quaker Oats box. 

The site belongs to Joey Green, prolific author, most of whose books have to do with tips for the mad-housewife, but include some political commentary and books about television.
