A couple of days ago, I did a post about Los Paradores, 100 luxurious lodgings (nine of which are just now being converted from ancient relics to hotels, and the rest are undergoing extensive renovations) in historic buildings scattered about Spain. They just made the short list of places I must go. I thoughtfully included a link to the main site...which was in Spanish, rightly thinking that if you're going to take this trip, you should start practicing now. (You could show your dedication by vowing to speak only Spanish today. Let me know how it goes.)
Anyway, alert reader SR saw a need here and fixed us up
with a comprehensive site in English: Paradores of Spain. Not only does the site rate each hotel from three to five stars, they include prices (OK, they're in Euros), a description of the lodging and the area it is located in, photographs of the rooms, dining areas and the building itself. And of course something about the history of the building itself. I said comprehensive, didn't I?
I suppose if I hope to be a little comprehensive (I didn't say compulsive), the least I can do is provide you with a link to a currency converter.
I'm going to go there in the next couple of years. (Which ones, I have no idea.) Count on it. And when I do, you'll hear all about it.
These photos are from Santiago de Compostela.
