Notre Dame

When Sandy and I were in Montreal, we visited a beautiful church, the Notre Dame Basilica.  Gorgeous and gothic on the outside, it is huge, ornate and beautiful inside, filled with woodwork and carvings, lots of stained glass and a magnificent pipe organ.  Here's what we saw:

I love wandering around old cathedrals and churches.  Hopefully I convinced you  to visit this one if you find yourself in Montreal.

Lego Church

It's amazing what you can produce when you have hundreds of hours (I presume) to spare.  I should talk.  Wonder how many I've put into this blog.

This Lego replica of the Abston Church of Christ was created by Amy Hughes.

Planning for Eternity

Yesterday, I talked a bit about making your will, and your living will.  Making sure those who love you know your wishes.Casket_1

But it's hard to think of everything.  If your loved ones are trying to fulfill your every last wish, but at the last minute realize they forgot to order the casket--no worries! Costco can overnight ship one to you as long as it's ordered by 2 PM. Priced from $1000 to $4000, they can order "In God's Care" or "The Lady of Guadalupe",  or "The Mother" or "The Kentucky Rose".  Then they can just drop you in a big hole in the back yard.  Or, if you prefer another route, Costco can also supply you with a tasteful urn.  Casket in wood or steel.Urn_2

One of the smartest things I ever did was join the National Cremation Society.  I carry the card in my wallet.  You can meet with a representative (in certain states only), and fill out an extensive questionnaire about what you want.  You pay a fee up front, and they'll arrange everything when you die.  Here's the thing.  If you die anywhere in the world, they'll do what is necessary to bring you home for whatever  grand finale you selected.  My husband was a member, and when he died, they took care of everything.  It helped a lot.

I'm either doing that, or being plastinated or composted
